August Meeting Minutes

PHXMQG Meeting Minutes- August 10, 2024

In Person Meeting 1:00-3:00

Board Members present: Erika Daniels, Michelle Jensen, Cindy Stohn, Pam Meylor and Elisabet Hannafin. 

President Erika Daniels opened the meeting at 1:05 pm

President – Erika Daniels

Erika welcomed all to our PHXMQG monthly meeting. 37 members attended.

The following was presented to the Guild to consider for the vote at the September Annual Business meeting:

1. 1. Raise dues: $45 to $50 – Covers programming and MQG access
   2. New Board member ballot: President: Bree Popp and Treasurer: Carol Dimpsey
   3. October voting for 2025 budget (programs, location, community outreach, etc.).  

The Board is working on a Movie with the lights on – tickets go on sale soon.

Phoenix Airport Museum Quilt Show 

Information is updated on the PHXMQG website along with the submission link.  Submission deadline is 9/28/2024.   If there are any question please reach out to a Board Member or contact Francine.

August Program was Bonnie Bobman demonstrating Fabric Wrapped Bowl techniques along with sewing time to work on the bowls.

The Guild also hosted a Pop-up Destash Sale with fabric and notions left from the July fundraiser.

Secretary Report – Pam Meylor

Meeting minutes from June 2024 minutes approved – first: Michelle Jensen  and seconded: Joni Koehn .

Block Lotto – Andi Standfield

August Block: Courthouse Steps Entries: 7 Winner: Joni Koehn

September Block is the Easy Chain Block – directions are on the website.

Hospitality – Erynn Truexx

June, July and August birthdays were invited to choose a gift from the Birthday Box.

Donations are still needed for the monthly birthday basket, please bring any sewing items to donate to the Hospitality group.

Treasurer’s Report: – Cindy Stohn

Locations for 2025 Guild Meetings were discussed and alternative locations will be evaluated.  Please send Cindy any recommendation on locations. 

Community Outreach

Quilt Kits and partially finished quilts were available for members to take home and work on.

Programs – Erynn Truexx

2025 Programs are being scheduled, Erynn has asked for members to continue sending in suggestions.

Block of the Month 

2024 Block of the Month is “L is for Quilt” by Sarah Ruiz and is a free pattern for members through the Modern Quilt Guild website. Participants in the BOM showed their projects to the guild. Next step is to assemble sections 1,2 and 3 and bring them to the September meeting.

Vice President Report – Michelle Jensen

Door prize and Raffle basket winners were Katie and Michelle.

Vintage Quilt Raffle winners were Katie and Pam.

Next months program is Cindy Lohbeck – Lecture and Sekka Shibori Dying Event
