PHXMQG Meeting Minutes- June 8, 2024

Virtual meeting,  1p-3pm Zoom  

Board Members present: Erika Daniels, Michelle Jensen, Cindy Stohn, Pam Meylor and Elisabet Hannafin. 

President Erika Daniels opened the meeting at 1:05 pm

Erika welcomed all to our PHXMQG monthly meeting. 42 members attended.

June Program was a guest lecture bu Jenny Haynes, The Evolution of a Curve.  Jenny shared her journey of sewing from garment design to quilting.  Not Just Curves workshop is being hosted this month by Jenny Haynes for PHXMQG.

Secretary Report – Pam Meylor

Meeting minutes from May 2024 minutes approved – first -Michelle Jensen  and seconded by Sarah Hinz and Gretchen McDowell.

Block Lotto – Andi Standfield

August Block – Ito be Announced in July, all information on the block will be posted on the website.

Hospitality – Erynn Truexx

Erynn will be hosting another sign up for guild members to be paired up and get together.  This is a great opportunity to get to meet new people in the guild. More information coming soon!

Donations are still needed for the monthly birthday basket, please bring any sewing items to donate to the Hospitality group.

Treasurer’s Report: – Cindy Stohn

Cindy presented the treasures report for Year To Day – link is here.

r’Cindy talked about the Annual Destash Sale and encouraged members to save their fabric for donation.  There are drop off locations through out the valley and items can be picked up.  Please email at [email protected] to make arrangements.  If you are interested in volunteering please let Cindy know, she will be contacting workers this month.

Community Outreach – Diana Jacobsen

Diana announced she has kits and fabric available for anyone wanting to pick up a project to work on. She also has drop off locations for anyone with a charity quilt that would like to return to her.  Please contact Diana to make arrangements to pick up a project or drop one off 

Block of the Month – Susan Taubel

2024 Block of the Month is “L is for Quilt” by Sarah Ruiz and is a free pattern for members through the Modern Quilt Guild website.  June blocks were B7 and B8 and for July, will be sewing A5 and B6.

Programs – Claire Victor / Erynn Truexx

Erynn will review the 2025 Programs at the August meeting.

Claire reviewed the programs for the remainder of 2024.

July – De-stash, August – Rope bowls, September – DyeHard, October – Make it Modern, November – Steph Skardal and December – Holiday Party.

Vice President Report – Michelle Jensen

Raffle winner – Bonnie Bobman

Next month there will not be a meeting, PHXMQG will be hosting their annual fundraiser Summer Splash De-stash.

Our next in person meeting will be in August.

Next meeting is Annual De-stash at Escalante Center
