November Meeting Minutes

PHXMQG Meeting Minutes- November 9, 2024

Virtual Meeting 1:00-3:00

Board Members present: Cindy Stohn, Michelle Jensen, Pam Meylor and Elisabet Hannafin. 

Treasurer Cindy Stohn opened the meeting at 1:04 pm

Cindy welcomed all to our PHXMQG monthly meeting. 44 members and guests attended.

Programs 

Claire Victor introduced Guest Speaker, Steph Skarda, Steph present Pushing Your Creative Boundaries.

Quiltcon

Cindy encouraged members to visit the Quiltcon website for updated information on classes, lectures and volunteer opportunities.  Make sure you sign up for your free admission tickets while it lasts (member discounts expire Nov 30th). 

Kristin Floyd presented a poll for Quiltcon T-shirts and a meet up during the event.  All members present voted.

Phoenix Airport Museum 

The exhibit officially kicks off on November 22 and runs through May 2025.  Erika Daniels is working on a Press Release to send out to promote the exhibit.  PAM has offered to coordinate a tour of the exhibit for the guild, an online poll was taken during the meeting to determine what date would work best for the guild.

2024/2025 Committees

There is a meeting scheduled for all Committee Chairs from 2024 and incoming Chairs for 2025 to meet on November 23 at 10:00am via Zoom.  If you are a Chair and unable to attend please let Bree know you will be absent. 

If you are interested in serving on the Technology committee please contact the Board.

Cindy presented the treasurer’s report for Year To Day – LINK 

2025 Membership renewal is on the website, renewal button is located on the shop page.  Please renew by the end of the year to keep your membership current.

Community Outreach – Diana  Jacobsen

All charity quilts and items for 2024 have been delivered to our non-profit partners.  Please hold on to any new donations until our January 2025 meeting.  In January we should have stats on how many quilted items were gifted in 2024.

Still time to join in the BOM – L is for Quilt.   All participants are encouraged to bring their quilts to the January meeting for a mini quilt show.  We also ask any members with quilt stands to bring them to the January meeting.

End of the Year Holiday Party will be at The Escalante Center, there will be games and light refreshments.  Left, Right, Center Game will be played, please bring Fat Quarters to participate.  There will be a gift exchange – guild members are encouraged gift unused items from your quilt room (approx $25-30 value) or make your gift.  The gift exchange will be done as a Dirty Santa Exchange.

PHXMQG pins will be available for purchase at the party for $5 each or 5/$20.  If you have winter themed quilts and/or a stand please bring them and arrive early to set up.  Member who participated in our dye event please bring your projects to share with the guild.
