September Meeting Minutes

PHXMQG Meeting Minutes- September 14, 2024

In Person Meeting 1:00-3:00

Board Members present: Cindy Stohn, Pam Meylor and Elisabet Hannafin. 

Treasurer Cindy Stohn opened the meeting at 1:05 pm

Cindy welcomed everyone to our PHXMQG monthly meeting. 41 members and 8 guests attended.

The following was voted on during the September Annual Business meeting

1. 1. Vote for Annual Dues to increase from $45 to $50 – Covers programming and MQG access 

• • First: Joni Kohn Second: Andi Standfield

0. 2. New BoardMember ballot: President: Bree Pop and Treasurer: Carol Dimpsey were voted by a show of hands.

Cindy reviewed the 2025 budget and asked for committee chairs and members to bring any potential budget adjustments to her prior to the October meeting.  The guild will vote on the 2025 budget at the October meeting.

There are still a few tickets available for the October 5th Stitch and Screen – A Craft Movie.   There is a link on the PHXMQG website to purchase tickets for the event.

Committee seats will be opening up for 2025, surveys were left on each table for any member interested in getting involved. they were asked to fill out forms and return to Pam.  

Phoenix Airport Museum Quilt Show is still open.  Bree was onsite taking photos for members that needed assistance getting their images to meet the application requirements.  Information is updated on the PhXMQG website along with the submission link.  Submission deadline is 9/28/2024.   If there are any question please reach out to a Board Member or contact Francine.

Meeting minutes from August 2024 minutes approved – first -Kelli Donely and seconded by Joni Koehn .

Block Lotto – Andi Standfield

September Block: Chain Block Entries:10 Winner: Brianna

October will be out last meeting with block lotto for 2024.  The October  Block is the Siggy Block – directions are on the website.

Tech Elisabet Hannifan

Elisabet showed the guild the most recent apparel in the PHXMQG shop.  The upcoming Quilt Con volunteer sign up date was shared along with the link for the guild members to use for sign up.

Treasurer’s Report: – Cindy Stohn

A vote for a budget of $500 allocated to the upcoming PAM exhibit was presented to the guild for a vote.  First – Kelli Donely Williams Second – Bonnie Bobman

Community Outreach

Partially finished quilts were available for members to take home and work on.  There are a large number of quilts that are complete except for binding – Diana asked for members to please take a quilt and get binding attached.

Block of the Month 

2024 Block of the Month is “L is for Quilt” by Sarah Ruiz and is a free pattern for members through the Modern Quilt Guild website. Barb showed a finished top and held a drawing for quilting supplies for all participants.
