“The pattern of this quilt is called Drunkard’s Path. These patterns are challenging due to the curved pieces that make up the quilt. There is a widely-held belief that quilts were sewn to promote the abolition of alcohol in the U.S. and were commonly seen with a blue and white color scheme. While the veracity of these claims has been disputed by many historians, the theory is still popular among quilters across America.”
