March 2022 Meeting Minutes

PHXMQG Meeting Minutes- March 12 , 2022

In Person meeting with 38 members and 5 guests.

Board Members present: Laura Flagler, Erica Daniels, Kristin Floyd, Cindy Stohn, Candace Lannon and Elisabet Hannafin. 

President Laura Flagler opened the meeting at 1:05pm

Welcome & information from President Laura Flagler- Laura welcomed all for the first In-Person meeting of 2022 for PHXMQG.  Noted that it was a welcome change to be able to be present together. 

Laura also shared that Bylaws committee led by Sharon Flanagan-Hyde has been hard at work & presented the executive board with the draft of the by-laws. The Executive board met to review, provided feedback to the committee. The proposed By-Laws will be posted on the website. There will be time provided at the March 26, 2022 Sew & Chat to ask questions. We will vote to approve the By-Laws at the April meeting. 

New Members and Guests– We welcomed the following: Adrienne Kirschner, Jan Baratter, Barb Birch, Christi Humm and Cynthia Wheeler. 

Secretary Report:

Kristin noted that minutes from February were posted on website, asked for questions- none. Claire Victor motioned to approve. Second was Lisa Cutlip. Minutes for February approved. 

Treasurer’s Report: Shared  by Cindy Stohn, printed copies for February 2021 presented in person:

  • Merchandise purchases earned the guild $370 so far, Merchandise Information  can be found on our Website. 
  • Amazon Smile should be depositing money this  month, expecting about $100!
  • Programs committee has been busy lining up speakers. Budgeted funds have been moved to the different speakers line items  for programs that are in the works.

2022_03 PHXMQG Treasurer Report

Directory/Tech– Candance shared that members can go to website to update their information to be included in Membership Directory. This is available only to members, and will not be shared beyond that. 

Community outreach :
  • Bonnie shared many quilts that have been completed for Charity- This showcased the many different sizes of quilts, and discussed some of the various charities that we make quilts for.  She indicated they can be of various sizes, and if you have ideas please contact Bonnie. 
  • For those that have organizations they would like the guild to donate to, you will need to act as the liaison between the guild and that org. Reach Out to Bonnie for more information.
  • Our Charity Quilt from QuiltCon is listed for sale on our Website.
BOM : Kim shared this years BOM is free to members, it is called “Dear Gunta” a pattern by Carrie Strine. All information is listed on website, contact Kim with questions. A couple of members shared their rows from this month with the guild.  There is also an update on the amount of Fabric, be sure to check website for correction. 
 
 Block lotto: 
  • Previewed April block (May Flowers), please bring to April meeting, or send pictures to Patti
  • March Block winner: 
  • All information for future Blocks is on Website, A big thank you to Patti for leading this again.
Swaps: Those with SWAPs got together to Swap the  Origami Shirt Magnets.  Next Swap will be the Triangle Zip Purse. Check out the website for more information. 
 
Sol Quilt Bee 2022: Francine gave an update, shared Sol Quilt Bee, and website. 
 
Programs for 2022
This is still being finalized, but Programs team has been busy lining up a great variety of programs for us! Website has most up to date information. 
 
Make a Face Challenge! 
At this meeting, for our Program, our own Claire Victor and Cindy Stohn shared “Make a Face Challenge”. Members brought items based off a supply list, and Claire & Cindy walked us through step by step process to lay fabric out for our faces.  This was such a fun project, and members had a great time. Many members expressed interest in learning how to quilt them. Claire will provide instructions, and we will incorporate this into the December Holiday party.  A huge thank you to Claire & Cindy for sharing with us! See below for additional information. 
 
Door Prizes: Erica was our Door Prize Queen today. Multiple winners of great notions, patterns and fabric! 

Show & Share: Members were asked to save Show & Share for next month, so that we could devote time to the Make a Face Challenge.
