PHXMQG Meeting Minutes- May 14 , 2022

Virtual meeting with 49 people online.

Board Members present: Laura Flagler, Candace Lannon, Elisabet Hannafin, and Erika Daniels, .

President Laura Flagler opened the meeting at 2:05pm

Welcome & information from President Laura Flagler- Laura welcomed all to our virtual PHXMQG.

June Demo Event

Attendees voted to have Laura F do a On 3″x5” inspiration quilts to spur creativity
Other options the attendees also chosen from options: Dog beds made from scraps, Needle turn appliqué, and Zipper pocket installation for bags

July meeting we will be selling fabric and notions as one of our main fund raising events for PHXMQG
This event raises money we can use for guild programs
Bring books to the July sale directly
Bring fabric and notions to the June meeting so they can be sorted and tagged
Carol D and Erika D visited Art Resource Center today to grab a few more bags quilting fabric for our sale

New Members

Betty – quilting since she was little – learned about us at QuiltCon – Joined Amy Butler’s Morocco trip! (Elizabeth on the paperwork)
Darcy – New to quilting – just finished grad school and stress reliever watching YouTube videos where she learned about quilt guild participation – fabric collector
Shauna – Just started quilting in January through a class – 12’ Elephant as her wallpaper!

Secretary Report

Erika noted that minutes from April were posted on website, asked for questions and motion to approve
Sharon made motion to approve April meeting minutes
Claire V seconded the motion

Treasurer’s Report:

120 members as of May 11
Passive fund raising via Smile Amazon and Frys. Cindy working to get Target approved

Community outreach

For those that have organizations they would like the guild to donate to, you will need to act as the liaison between the guild and that org. Reach Out to Bonnie for more information.
We have donated 22 quilted items: 4 to Hushaby Nursery, 11 to One in Ten, and 7 quilted items to Jewish Family & Children’s Services (placemats, wall hangings, water bottle holders, cases, etc. )
