Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes

Date: July 19, 2014

Location: Scrapbooks Etc.

President Michelle Hart called the meeting to order at 1:10pm. Approximately 28 people were in attendance.

Four guests (Jen, Lori, Marion, Jo) were welcomed. Kim was thanked for bringing snacks. The black bottom cupcake recipe can be found here. 

Secretary’s Report from Rebecca Whaling

• The June 2014 meeting minutes were approved.

President’s Report from Michelle Hart

• MQG Michael Miller Challenge entries are via a comment onto the forum thread by July 25th with photos of your project. If the “add media” button does not seem to work please try a different web browser application.
• The August meeting will be Demo Day and a Potluck. Bonnie has created a sign up for the potluck on Perfect Potluck. The meeting will be help at ETC.
• Mini Quilt swap participants should have all received their partner information. The swap will take place at the August meeting.
• There are three spots remaining for the September retreat to Quilting on the Rim. Those interested should contact Chelsa.
• The September activity will be a Fabric Confetti Pillow workshop by Vanessa. More information including kits will be available soon.
• Iron Caddy patterns will be ordered. They should arrive by the August meeting and will be given to those who ordered.

Announcements

• Danny announced that she had some sewing supplies given to her by a neighbor in her car. Members were invited to see if they were interested in the items after the meeting.

Michael Miller Challenge Show and Tell

• 12 members showed projects for the MQG Michael Miller Challenge
• Members voted for their favorite project with the winner receiving an ETC gift card.
  • 1st Place: Guinevere for “Spring has Sprung. Away Polar Vortex”
  • 2nd Place: Denise for her 60 degree starts quilt
  • 3rd Place tie: Michelle for <> and Rebecca for “Pinwheel Spinwheel”
