September 2021 Meeting Minutes

Make it Modern Challenge in Morning, wrapped up prior to meeting start.

President opened the meeting:

• Executive Board Position Openings, and addition of new Technical Board Member
• Open Positions for 2022 – Secretary and Vice President, all new Chair Positions are on the Website.

Secretary Report:

• Motion to approve the minutes from the June meeting
  • Clair first
  • Kelli second
• Minutes approved by membership

Treasurers Report:

• Presented and handed out printed copies of the current, along with expected budget for 2021-2023
• Welcome questions from anyone, contact Cindy
• Money raised from sale is reserved for Programs in the future

Charity Update:

• Bonnie – showed new kits for charity quilts that are on the Charity Page on our website.
• If you have fabric to donate let us know and we will take it for charity quilts – pre-cut into 5” squares or 2 ½” strips.
• No due date- bring when it is done.
• There are different stages of the quilt process – you don’t need to finish the full quilt, do what you want to do and someone else will finish.
• Charities include – One in Ten, Jewish Family Services, Project Linus
• If you have a charity, you are passionate about and you want to be the liaison, it’s open to all of us.
• Feel free to edit the pattern to make it your own
• Kathy O’Brian patterns
• Sign up online if you want to participate – list will be sent to everyone who signs up with preferences on which part you want to do.

QuiltCon Quilt Update:

• Community Outreach quilt – this year the prompt is angels – we need 24 blocks and you can pick up the kit.- October 1st deadline to have back to Bonnie.
• Charity is up to us – more information to come from MQG – Navajo Quilt Project, Women of Color Quilters.

Guest Speaker:

• New Owner of Hummingbird Lane Fabrics
  • 10% discount for all members with membership card (can be printed from the MQG site)

• 4 new blocks this month.
• If you wish to join still, you can for $15 on the website.
• October Blocks instructions was given by Patti

Block Lotto – Winner selected and won all the blocks submitted

Voting for Make It Modern Challenge, all 7 competitors submitted photos of completed project to Secretary – a survey with pictures was sent out to membership for voting.
